Troops are on their way - not to fight, but to advise

South Vietnam is in trouble. Its government has become unstable. The Communists in North Vietnam might try to take over. No way will America let that happen. Today, JFK signs a plan to send troops, but not the fighting kind. 15,000 military advisors will show the South Vietnamese how to defend themselves. It’s not the first time we’ve done it, but it’s the most we’ve ever sent.
